Golden Oaks Farm was established in 1948 by the Crown family of Chicago. They strive to efficiently and profitably produce both a quality dairy product and superior cattle and genetics while maintaining the integrity of the agriculture in a suburban setting. They also give back to the industry by offering internship opportunities.
Ethan reached out to us to take care of some problem areas as well as some new concrete. While we were there they were contemplating installing rubber mats in their free stall barns, upon inspecting the results of how the cows reacted and footing on the newly grooved areas we completed they asked us to give them a price on grooving the areas they were looking at installing rubber mats. They were surprised that grooving was ΒΌ the price of rubber mats and seeing the results compared to the areas they already had mats, they decided they wanted us to groove the free stall barns.
We grooved all alleys diagonally in the free stall barns over the straight boat floated grooves, also diagonal grooves on all crosswalks. Straight grooves on the walkway between free stall barns that had no finish. We did diagonal grooves in all heifer barns over existing straight as well as a new heifer barn with no finish.
New concrete for a feed pad for the pastured dry cows and bulls we did the diamond pattern grooves. In the outside yard where the show cows were kept, we did straight grooves with some diagonal around the feed bunk. This is decided during the observation of the cow's traffic pattern. This area had no finish.
Everyone was extremely satisfied and our experience at Golden Oaks was Amazing!
